The DN34 International Conference on Discourse, Identity and Polarisation
This international hybrid conference offers an interdisciplinary forum to examine how individual and group identities are discursively constructed in today's increasingly polarised societies, and how language both reinforces and challenges social divisions. The event is supported by the EU-funded DARE project, which investigates how polarisation and identity in the abortion debate are shaped in European mainstream news media.
The conference invites scholars at all career stages from across the transdisciplinary field of Critical Discourse Studies to explore how social divisions and identities are discursively shaped, contested and transformed. We welcome submissions that analyse the role of discourse in shaping identities and polarisation at local, national and transnational levels, whether through theoretical discussion or relevant case studies.
